Mahmood is Head of Network Strategy and Development at National Highways, the government-owned company that manages England’s 4,500 miles of motorways and major A-roads. Mahmood has over 30 years’ experience in local government, covering corporate strategy, economic development, planning, regeneration, housing and delivery of major infrastructure programmes totalling c£1bn. Over the past 12 years Mahmood has held roles within National Highways centred on long term strategic planning, economic growth, spatial planning and housing delivery. He has a keen interest in how these interrelated disciplines can work together seamlessly, and the role that large infrastructure plays in facilitating economic growth across UK.
